Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a whimsical romantic comedy that weaves together the lives of four young lovers, a group of bumbling amateur actors, and a pair of feuding fairy royals. Set in an enchanted forest outside Athens, the play explores themes of love, transformation, and mischief as the fairy king Oberon and his mischievous servant Puck meddle with magic to hilarious and chaotic effect. As identities are mistaken and affections are magically redirected, the characters are pushed into confusion and comedy—only for everything to be set right in the end, with weddings, reconciliation, and a joyful celebration of love.
We are honoured to perform on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinabewaki, Neutral and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Peoples. Beneath our feet and all around us are the spirits of those who have come before, who have stewarded this land and have felt the intense burden of a colonial presence. We honour their artistic traditions as we present to you our own today.
